Splash Flash News - Splash also available in Finland

The success of the Splash presentation in Sweden has also been noticed in other countries, such as Finland. Last Sunday Roel Wester BV was visited by Ton Bjorndahl, who came to see and test the Splash. After he had heard about the Splash, he immediately contacted Roel Wester BV. He was very much impressed by the Splash and Said:”This is the boat I have been looking for the last two years”.

Bjorndahl is not unknown in the sailing world. His father was a famous OK-dinghy sailor. Roel Wester found out that he had sailed several races against him at world championships. Besides being a famous sailor and also an ice boat sailor, Bjorndahl is the man who built the first IODA Optimist.

Within two weeks the first Splashes will be on their way to Finland for presentation for the Finnish sailing association, sailing clubs and a presentation at Helsinki Boat show.

From May, when the ice has gone, Splashes will be seen sailing in Finnish waters.

At the Nordic Championships, held in July 2002, the Splash will be presented to other countries. The Nordic event has competitors, Optimist and Europe sailors, from Lithuania, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway. There will also be Finnish competitors at the World Championships Splash 2002 in England.

The Splash is the fastest growing junior class in the Netherlands and an ISAF recognized international junior class. It is built under licence in New Zealand as well as North America and sold in more than 15 countries. The Splash is a Roel Wester design and marketed by Roel Wester BV of Grouw.
