Splash Flash News - Splash class to be divided into 6 fleets

The Sneekweek Committee have decided to divide the Splash fleet into 6 different categories at the Sneekweek Regatta this summer. With more than 50 starters the starting line that can be laid out on the Sneekermeer would be too short for a fair start. Now all sailors will have equal chances again. For the rest everything will remain the same as last year. So after three days the whole fleet will be regrouped again. Together with the two Flash fleets, all this means that no fewer than 8 starts for each race will be needed to start all the Splashes and Flashes. Both the Splash and the Flash are experiencing a rapid growth. There are now also new Splash fleets in Sweden and Finland. At the moment Roel Wester BV has more than 130 Splashes/Flashes on order and he expects to sell approximately 250 new boats in 2002. < Back >
