Splash Flash News - Splash, biggest class of the Netherlands

KNWV counts have shown that the Splash has become the largest class of the Netherlands. The Optimist is second and the Laser third. The strong growth of the Splash class of the last four years has caused the splash to overtake the Optimist and the Laser.

This year more than 200 new Splashes will be delivered and Splash NED 1800 will take part in Sneekweek 2002.

The Splash is so popular because it is the only suitable class after the Optimist, there is an excellent class organization for its helmsmen and helmswomen and the class organization promotes both top sailing and recreational sailing.

Internationally speaking, the class is also doing very well. Sweden, Finland and Poland have all adopted the Splash now. In test, held in Finland, comparing the Splash with a Finnish dinghy, the Splash appeared to stand head and shoulders above the Finnish class.

Congratulations, Splash class.
