Splash Flash News - United4 apply double standards

For more than three years the Splash Class Organisation has tried to take part in the United4 events, together with the 420, 470, Cadet, Europe, Laser and Optimist. The organisers of the United4 events have so far prevented the participation of the Splash class, the largest class of the Netherlands and the best single handed youth class after the Optimist, using various arguments:
  • we have no more room on the water
  • we are afraid to get too many participants
  • there not enough room on shore
  • we'll look into it again
  • there are too many helmsmen in the B-category

The Splash Class Organisation have also tried to enter only Splash A1 and A2 helmsmen, but also without success.

Now that the Laser 4.7 is accepted at the United4 event at Muiden, we think that the organisation of the United4 events is applying double standards. Therefore, we hope that the largest youth class of the Netherlands is allowed to take part in the United4 events in 2003.
